Feel free to answer any or the following categories: Do you find the label offensive? Do you feel it it an outdated stereotype? Do you think that the term middle aged could ever have a positive conotation? Do you have any alternate suggetions for that wuold better describe middle age today?
What do you find the most annoying about becoming middle aged (regardless of what you choose to call the years 40- 65).
Hey thanks for all the great answers. Keep them coming.
First wave boomer are 60 – but technically the boomers ae those born from 1944 – 1960. (Had to rearch it for a paper a few years back).

back then and they are the same people today that are scared to death that their own teenager is going to have *** and smoke weed. Not saying that it is good for a teen to have *** and smoke weed, I am just saying that it is ironic and a little humorous.
Well, yes, I do worry about my children. It’s just that the majority of the things that you see and hear about is the hippies. And I am only 26, so it’s natural for me to have a preconcieved idea about the baby boomers.

mechanical_trader asked:
I understand that it is supposedly the Baby Boomers that are going to **** it dry… but since our populations are exploding, and more and more people are joining the work force every day, paying more and more social security, it doesn’t make sense to me. I’d like to see some nice graphs that show the inflow and outflow of social security funds and future projections that make it clear to me what’s really going on.
Perhaps I should have phrased my question like this…
Is their a graph that shows how many people are expected to retire in the next 30 years compared with the number of people entering the workforce during that time? Another graph that would then be good to see is the amount of money being taken in vs being paid out by these same groups. The graph posted at http://jec.senate.gov/_files/SocialSecuritysCostsExceedRevenue.pdf is interesting, but doesn’t show the number of workers, and therefore I’m having a hard time trusting it.

Sine Language asked:
Well obviously the question is oversimplified. And oviously the hippie movement has both good and bad (Altamont, Charles Manson) connotations to some people. But the good aspects would seem to be consistant with a desire to proactively address things like what has turned into global warming and the declining state of American education. Yet, Who cam to power, Reagan, Bush, Bush–a bunch of conservatives and neo-conservatives. What happened? Is capitalism and grees that powerful? To turn around a whole generation?
Sorry, “cam” = “came” and “grees” =”greed”. No spellcheck.

Let those idiots pay the debts of the Baby Boomers and their immoral behavior. They will learn what its like to have 40% of their income go to paying off Chinese bond holders. Their kids will revolt in 2040 and shoot the idiots, and take their houses. America will once again be free. In the mean time, I will party on and enjoy the artificial boom Obama’s porkulus bills are going to create.

being asked:
The state will pick up your nursing home costs AFTER all your resources have been gutted. If you don’t put the family farm in someone elses name SEVERAL YEARS ahead of time…you loose it all. Of course the kids can pay the costs at $175/day. My friend did that in order to keep mamas house….mama lived in the home for 5 years…that’s right $240,000 . OUCH. Get it together NOW!
Bottom line: Put it in your name (if she trusts you, that is)
As far as the kids bathing you and wiping you….what about that kids?

Chris S asked:
My husband and I are retired and moving to WA soon.
Can anyone tell us where a good location would be for older people, yet within a moderate driving distance to parks, movies, restaurants, malls, bookstores etc.?
We are finished raising our children, so we prefer not to live in a young, baby-boomer location.
Thanks for your help!

subwm4bush asked: Or should we force cuts in their massive entitlements to cut the debt?
It is highly unlikely that the Worst Generation will willingly them up.
You do not know which generation I am from. The fact is that the baby boomer generation grew up with a sense of entitlement and has ****** off the teat of the greatest generation for far too long. We will not be able to afford their massive entitlements as they retire.
There are different time spans for the baby boomer generation. Some say ‘44-64, others have different time periods.
Most baby boomers did not serve in Vietnam.
We boomers ARE the narcissistic generation. See here for some of our denial on entitlements.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2007/01/baby_boomers_are_selfishly_sil.html
The only ideology we have held true to is our ideology of personal indulgence. Sex, drugs and rock n roll when we were young. Then we got older and it was, money, money, money. Now we want to live much longer and well beyond our means in affluent retirement.
You offer no details on how our generation has enriched society.
Why wait to cut boomer entitlements? It is an economic crisis time bomb bigger than the sub prime bust.

http://www.debbieschlussel.com/archives/2007/12/baby_boomer_gen.html
Face it, our generation is seen as the narcissistic ME ME ME generation. Us older baby boomers have siphoned off most of the wealth. Younger baby boomers are left out, then the following generations have even less. I think our parents are right. We were coddled and spoiled and we went from spoiled brats to spoiled hypocritical adults. Now our children and grandchildren agree with our parents. We are the Worst Generation. We should willingly sacrifice for the future of America.
