Baby Boomers only: What is this Sixties song?

There is an instrumental hit that was very popular in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s that seemed to sum up how you guys felt during that era. It had a sense of youth and hope and kind of a steady marching tempo to it, and during the “chorus” (no words), huge bells were rung. Three notes: BING… BING… BONG…. BING… BING… BONG… BING… BING… BONG… BONG… BONG… BONGGGGG… I am dying to find out the name of this darn thing so I can go get the CD. It was hugely popular between 1968-1971. They played it on the radio all the time. Anyone recognize what song I am talking about, any ideas what the song was called? I’ll check out your answers on Amazon to see if there’s a match… please help… I want this song BADLY…

Why is society getting progressively worse?

leybosed asked:

I am 17, and I think my generation is the worst generation right now, but that kids will only get worse down the road. My parents’ generation (the Baby Boomer generation) is one of the worst generations, also. I respect my grandfather’s generation (he was born in 1934), my great-grandfather’s generation (he was born in 1898), and the generations that precede them, but nobody after my grandfather’s generation.

The Baby Boomers are a bunch of spoiled brats that screwed up the economy with their financial stupidity and irresponsibility. People before them at least knew how to handle money. And kids my age are also spoiled, but that is mostly because their parents in the Baby Boomer generations set bad examples. Also, there are many kids my age who think they are gang bangers, even though they are white, which really bugs me. Kids in my generation can’t accept who they are. Nobody wants to do work anymore and that is why countries like China are literally buying the world; they are willing to do work that lazy Americans aren’t willing to do and complain about. Not to mention that the Chinese are very good with managing money.

Would love to hear about some of your wonderful memories from that time….Especially USA/ENGLAND…..like your fave songs and such…..If you loved the British Invasion of ‘64….and 1960’s Motown……

This time was so very special for me and I know I can’t be the only one….and so I would so much like to hear from you all…..

I turned fourteen on September 1, 1964…and I was so totally and wonderfullly in love with Paul McCartney…and John was always my second fave….and now it’s the other way around =)

I remember the first time I got to see A HARD DAY’S NIGHT (November 29, 1964 – my sister’s bd) and HELP (in 1965) on August 12th at the mall. It was a year and a day before I would get to see my one and only Beatle concert here in Detroit….

But even so….1964 and 1965 will ALWAYS hold the fondest memories of my life…and I will ALWAYS be grateful that I got to
be born when I was so that I could grow up in this wonderful time! =)

Thank you to all who answer!
Oh wow…I can tell already that THIS is NOT going to be easy….I am sitting here
with tears in my eyes just sharing all of the wonderful memories with you…..

I especially remember a “snow day” in the very early part of 1965 when there was no school and so I got to stay home
and listen to all those wonderful songs on the radio…like YOU’VE LOST THAT
LOVIN’ FEELING and CAN’T YOU HEAR MY HEARTBEAT and MY GIRL and THIS DIAMOND RING….etc…..and they were still playing DOWNTOWN….

I also got into the 50’s music BECAUSE
of the Beatles….and it really helps with my novel that I’ve been writing on J&P that starts out in Liverpool, Oct. 1957…
It’s just for fun, but I put all my feelings and such for the boys into that story….
That’s where my yahoo id is from by the way…. =) That is the heroine’s name and
she/i started out w/paul, but now “we”are w/
John and EARTH ANGEL is our special
song…and it’s only “1960″ so far..
She’s from Paris — bd. Christmas. 1943.

What ideas came be made to save social security?

admin November 2nd, 2009

ram456456 asked:

Just see Social Security in the next 10 years eating up more tax dollars because of the baby boomers retiring and the pay-in from are less than the pay-outs, but I have seen academic empiercal studies done on social security, from Privization to higher taxation, means testing. How as much as a society should spend on social security, and to shore it up cut other programs, raise tax limit from 90k to 140k, or even reduce benefits given out to the program. I dont see a magical solutions to fix it. The Medicare problem is even worse shape in the future. We as Americans gotta make choices higher taxes for the same benefits, or reduce benefit keep the taxes the same. I see the solution is kind of mix of democrat and republican idea.
