A question for Baby-Boomers?

admin January 5th, 2010

Linda asked:

Do you remember April 22, 1970 ? (The first earth day)

I was in High school. We were a very Rural school, in the foothills of California. Several of the girls rode their horses. We learned about recycling. There was “Insect tasting” where we got to sample chocolate covered ants. They also had rattlesnake meat to sample. Anyone else remember anything like that?

Baby Boomers only: What is this Sixties song?

themeforkit asked:

There is an instrumental hit that was very popular in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s that seemed to sum up how you guys felt during that era. It had a sense of youth and hope and kind of a steady marching tempo to it, and during the “chorus” (no words), huge bells were rung. Three notes: BING… BING… BONG…. BING… BING… BONG… BING… BING… BONG… BONG… BONG… BONGGGGG… I am dying to find out the name of this darn thing so I can go get the CD. It was hugely popular between 1968-1971. They played it on the radio all the time. Anyone recognize what song I am talking about, any ideas what the song was called? I’ll check out your answers on Amazon to see if there’s a match… please help… I want this song BADLY…

What ideas came be made to save social security?

admin November 2nd, 2009

ram456456 asked:

Just see Social Security in the next 10 years eating up more tax dollars because of the baby boomers retiring and the pay-in from are less than the pay-outs, but I have seen academic empiercal studies done on social security, from Privization to higher taxation, means testing. How as much as a society should spend on social security, and to shore it up cut other programs, raise tax limit from 90k to 140k, or even reduce benefits given out to the program. I dont see a magical solutions to fix it. The Medicare problem is even worse shape in the future. We as Americans gotta make choices higher taxes for the same benefits, or reduce benefit keep the taxes the same. I see the solution is kind of mix of democrat and republican idea.

Seniors/Baby Boomers: Do you remember Jo Stafford?

admin October 21st, 2009

Shortstuff13 asked:

She was the honey-voiced band singer who starred in radio & television & sold more than 25 million records, with her ballads & folk songs. Jo Stafford has died of congestive heart failure, at the age of 90.
Source: MSN News….Jo Stafford passed away Wednesday, according to her son, Tim.
musica…She did indeed have a lovely voice. My favorite song was “I’ll Be Seeing You.”
Kathleen K….A long life indeed. Her son told the media that she’d been in failing health since this past October. Still, she lived a long life.
Marie….She had so many hits & I’m glad your husband contributed to my question as well.

A question for the baby boomers of the 40s?

admin October 12th, 2009

Ladybug asked:

I’ve been watching classic TV. Did your father always go to work in a suit and work in an office? Did your Mother always dress in a crisp little shirtwaist dress, heels, makeup with hair perfectly done to fix breakfast? Was she always in the kitchen baking something when you came home from school. Why were the shows we all loved and envied so unrealistic back then? I remember feeling cheated because my mom wasn’t like June Cleaver. LOL
My family had no TV until the 50s. But we had radio.

Are there any funeral or cremation service companies that are publicly traded?

With the baby boomers aging this seems like it might be a good industry to invest in. A little morbid, but I want to look into it.
